This is advised, as, in the event of your pet causing injury to a third party or damage to their property, whilst in the owners care, you the owner would be liable and a claim can be made against you. Purchasing third party liability insurance will help protect you should a claim arise.
If you don’t have pet insurance but wish to purchase public liability insurance, You can do so from https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/get-involved/membership/ for a small annual fee.
I have gained the following qualifications:
iPET Network Level 3 Award in Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals Qualification Number 603/6844/5
iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine Emergency First Aid
Qualification Number 603/5953/5
Although qualified in canine first aid, all techniques can be adjusted and administered to small animals in a first aid situation.
Although not a qualification, I have also attended the IMDT Canine Body Language course
I have many years of personal experience regarding dog walking and animal care, having owned a variety of small pets and multiple dogs. I have also spent the last 3 years walking dogs professionally on a 1:1 basis.
I will be more than happy to discuss my experience in more detail during your “Meet & Greet”.
Although not qualified in dog training or behaviour, I am prepared to continue with any force free, positive reinforcement training methods you are currently using, whilst your dog is in my care and booked onto a 1:1 personalised walk.
Although I am covered by my insurance to walk 6 dogs at any one time, I choose to limit the number to a maximum of 4 dogs. This ensures that each dog receives adequate attention and gains maximum enjoyment from their walk.
I will walk your dog locally, exploring the amazing, dog friendly places that the area has to offer.
Your dog will only be let off lead if you have provided me with your written consent, their recall is sufficient and if it is safe to do so.
ALL new dogs are likely to be walked on lead for the few months, as this gives me adequate time to assess your dogs recall in different situations.
